Long ingredient lists, names you can’t pronounce, and promises that don’t add up. More and more customers are tired of it, and they’re asking for skincare that keeps things simple. That’s exactly what Zero BS tallow skin food was made for.
Zero BS tallow skin food is a proudly South African skincare range made in Cape Town, and it’s now available from Rapple Salon Products. Here’s what makes it different, and why it deserves a spot on your shelf.
Tallow is rendered animal fat. It might sound unusual for skincare, but it’s one of the oldest moisturisers there is. Long before modern creams, people used animal fats to protect and nourish their skin.
Zero BS describes tallow as “a molecular match to skin lipids”, the natural fats that help keep skin soft and protected. The idea is simple: instead of feeding your skin synthetic ingredients, you give it something close to what it already makes. In Zero BS’s words, it is “a natural diet for our skin, boosting its ability to repair itself.”
That’s why they call it skin food.
Quality starts at the source. Zero BS uses tallow from grass-fed, free-roaming cattle at Greenfields Farm near Mooi River in KwaZulu-Natal, raised without hormones or antibiotics. The tallow is then refined into Talloren®, their stabilised form of pure tallow, for consistent quality in every jar of tallow skin food.
The brand also blends in South African fynbos botanicals, and all of its ingredients are food-sourced and food-grade.
Zero BS started at home. Founder Warren was looking for a natural alternative to petroleum-based products for his baby daughter’s skin. He found a centuries-old tallow recipe and spent six months perfecting it in his own kitchen. Friends and family started asking for it, and in 2017 he and his lifelong friend Yael turned that recipe into Zero BS tallow skin food.
Today the range is still made in-house at their factory in Cape Town.
The name says it all. Zero BS is built around a short, honest list of promises:
As the brand puts it: what you see is what you get.
A rich, whipped tallow moisturiser for the face. A little goes a long way: warm a small amount between your fingertips and press it into clean skin, morning and night. Shop Zero BS Face Butter
Simple, nourishing protection for dry or chapped lips. Small enough to keep in a bag or at the reception desk. Shop Zero BS Lip Balm
A tallow bar that cleanses without stripping the skin. A natural first step in any Zero BS routine. Shop Zero BS Soap

Tallow skin food is a great fit for anyone who wants a minimal routine with ingredients they can recognise. Because tallow is an animal product, it isn’t suitable for vegans, and the brand is upfront about that. If you have a specific skin condition, it’s always worth checking with your doctor or dermatologist before trying something new.
Clients are reading labels more than ever. Zero BS tallow skin food gives you a natural, locally made skincare range with a story that’s easy to share:
